ROYAL CHALLENGERS FACE MUST-WIN GAME AGAINST DELHI DAREDEVILS
Royal Challengers Bangalore face a must-win situation when they take on Delhi Daredevils in an Indian Premier League match at the New Wanderers Stadium here Tuesday.
Daredevils, with 18 points from 12 matches are already through to the semi-finals. Bangalore, on the other hand, with 12 points from as many matches are at the fifth place and are among the five teams vying for the remaining three places.
For Bangalore a win will tie them with Deccan Chargers and Kings XI Punjab, who are at third position with 14 points from 13 matches. Bangalore's confidence is high after their two back-to-back wins.
Bangalore's problem has been their batting which has not been consistent.
Ross Taylor has been the pick of the Bangalore batsmen and his presence has strengthened the middle-order.
Jacques Kallis has come good with the bat but has not been able to create the same magic with the ball. Robin Uthappa has played one good knock, but overall failed to impress at the top of the order.
Rahul Dravid who got off to a sound start in the tournament is looking to regain his flair in the closing stages.
Bangalore beat Knight Riders in their last match in which Taylor scored an 18-ball 33. But the five-day break can work against Bangalore.
Delhi skipper Virender Sehwag has already announced his intentions to get back to form. He with Gautam Gambhir forms the most dangerous opening pair of the IPL.
AB de Villiers has been impressive, and with Tillakaratne Dilshan makes a formidable batting line-up for Delhi.
Sehwag's return also means that Dave Warner once again will have to warm the bench.
Delhi beat Royal Challengers by six wickets in their first clash.
